Review: C.O. Bigelow Apple Rose Salve

I bought this product at the beginning of the most recent B&BW Semi Annual Sale, with really high hopes. I thought it was going to be a really nice lip balm-y product with a great lasting power, but I was wrong. When you first open this product, it looks really nice. It's got a nice pink-y color that is literally calling you to use it. It smells a little off, I have to admit. It smells just like the C.O. Bigelow Apple Cider lip gloss that came out right around Christmas time in '10, that I made obvious in all videos mentioning it, I hate. It smells synthetic, and makes you sick to your stomach. Pure ick. The lasting power of this was terrible. I had to reapply after 30 minutes, with no eating, or anything touching my lips. It just didn't last. Quite obviously, I didn't want to put any more on, so I ended up putting on a different balm.

That's not all. I felt like I had rubbed butter on my lips. It had absolutely so 'creamy' feeling to it. It just felt like grease. You know that feeling where you know that there is grease on your hands, but its not directly 'wipeoffable" because it almost feels like it's not there at the same time? That's how this felt. Terrible for the face.

After all this, I can't end this review on such a sour note. There has to be SOMETHING about it that's good, right? There is! When I was trying out this product, I was sitting my in desk chair, with 1 leg crossed over the other. I looked down at my foot, and saw that the the size of my heel, about 2 cm from the bottom of my foot, I had a little dry patch, where the top layer of skin was flaking off. I absolutely freaked out. I take really good care of my feet and hands, and I knew that a gross patch on my foot can ruin a perfectly good moment with a cute pair of flip flops. So, I basically remembered that the salve is good for lips, cuticles, knees, face, and really anywhere on your body that needs the moisture. I just rubbed a little bit of this on the spot, and forgot about it for the rest of the day. I woke up the next morning, remembering it, and looked to see the results. I couldn't find the spot. This completely saved my feet from a sandal disaster.

So, In the end, I'm not going to throw it away because of what it did for my feet. If it wasn't for that last saving moment, I would have tossed this without a second thought.

Until next time,

<3Katie

  1. Awesome Review. Love your youtube & blog. Check out my blog as well. I was wondering about the Blog sale. Sad I missed it. I was interested in the moonlight magic shower gel and some other things on it too but I saw that it was closed. Do you think you will do another one?
